Welcome to Hotell Amigo

History

The Hotel has been in the Svensson Family since 1947. Established by fishermans son Sven-Erik Svensson and his wife Aina. The first name was "Ritz Bar and Konditori" and then known as "Emmaboda Bar & Hotel". Sven-Erik and Aina were able to make this investment after Sven-Erik served as a "Ships Chef" for a number of years. In 1959 they purchased the whole property were the Hotel Amigo stands today.

During the years of 1963 - 1965 great plans were made for a Hotel business on the Great Canary Island. Hotel Brazilia as it was called was situated in Las Palmas. Due to illness these great plans were stopped. However, this is of course where the influence of the hotel today comes from. Amigo - friend in Spanish!

The Hotel was extended in 1970 and the official name Hotel Amigo was registered. During the 70:s and 80:s the cellar of the Hotel was a very popular dance place. Young people flocked here from miles around. This was before the rooms and dining areas were fully extended.

In 1977 we celebrated our 30 year jubilee. Back then you could book a room for 57 SW.CRS and a double room cost 93 SW.CRS.

!n 1980 Sven-Erik and Aina's four sons took over the whole business. Of course the young lads had started their careers here at a young age. The only sister Maj also participated but decided not to participate in the ownership.

The extending and renovating of the Hotel is of course an on-going process with the last large extension completed in 2000.

Future plans for development is of course an on-going enterprise. None of this however - would be possible without the strong family ties and support of family and very loyal employees.
